Introducing CJCMedia Network, Malaysia’s premier blog network

Posted by CJCM

CJCMedia Network, Malaysia’s premier blog networkEver since I got myself into blogging sometime in August 2006, I am totally hooked into it. What had initially been blogging just for fun had turned into something that is both fun and rewarding. Within a relatively short period of time, I have transformed from a hobby-blogger to semi-pro blogger .. :) having secured blogger positions for sites such as Gadgetell, Profy (Note: I have ceased to be an author there), Techzoogle and lately Kuala Lumpur is Home, a Home Turf Media blog.

My involvement with Home Turf Media, a brand new city-based blog network, had sparked new interest in me in the area of setting up and managing a blog network. After some serious thinking and much research on the internet, I finally decided to launch my very own blog network. As a result, 12th February 2007, CJCMedia Network was born, although the ground works for the network had been going on for weeks prior to that.

CJCMedia Network, the first Malaysian blog network I believe, is a proof of my committment and passion for blogging. My ambition is to spin this Malaysia’s premier blog network into something that all Malaysians can be proud of in the blog network arena. That of course will not come easy as there are a lot of aspects that need to be taken care of in developing the network.

Although I am currently working to launch several sites authored by Malaysian-based bloggers, CJCMedia Network aims to pool together a network of talented bloggers from both Malaysia and the rest of the world.

I really hope this network will receive much needed support from everyone especially Malaysians. If you would like to know how you can be part of CJCMedia Network, here is a good place to start. Stay tuned for more news about CJCMedia Network.

Malaysian will soon be able to enjoy greater mobility with WiMax

Posted by CJCM

The Malaysian government had awarded licenses to four companies, Bizsurf (M) Sdn Bhd, MIB Comm Sdn Bhd, Asiaspace Dotcom Sdn Bhd and Redtone-CNX Broadband Sdn Bhd, to operate WiMAx networks in Malaysia. Interestingly, they four had beaten some of the big names in Malaysian telecommunication industry such as the heavyweights DiGi.Com Bhd, Maxis Communications Bhd and TM Bhd.

The services are expected to be available to the public by year end. Once these are in operation, Malaysians will be able to surf the Internet at ultra-high speeds from any point in the country, as well as enjoy new or improved Web-based services. Lets hope we can get better sercvices and cheaper rates from these four service providers. I hope they do not emulate my experience with Screamyx.

All bloggers are liars: I have nothing to say - Malaysian Tourism Minister

Posted by CJCM

The date was 9th March 07, and the place was Sin Chew, Early Evening edition pp 5… Malaysian Tourism Minister had been quoted as saying “…all bloggers are liars…” and “…8,000 of 10,000 unemployed bloggers are women…”

Bloggers, especially women, retaliated and salvos were fired from all directions toward the minister.

Monday 12th March 07, the Minister had been quoted in The Associated Press as saying “I don’t have anything to say.”

Meanwhile, in the blogosphere, the temperature is set to raise even higher with Rehman Rashid’s statement :

The local blogosphere is the domain of life-challenged grumblestiltskins and disenfranchised pundits whose asinine maunderings only show why they should never have had day jobs in the first place

The local blogosphere is the domain of life-challenged grumblestiltskins and disenfranchised pundits whose asinine maunderings only show why they should never have had day jobs in the first place.
Rumour, inuendo, half-truths and damned lies are their stock-in-trade, and previously sacrosanct standards, principles and ethics are now laughable.
Are they not entitled to their opinion? Of course they are, as much as everyone is entitled to ignore them. I would venture, however, that everyone has an opinion and a rectum, and not that many seem capable of telling one from the other.

Ku Nan and I, Rocky’s Bru
I don’t have anything to say right now - Tengku Adnan, Elizabeth Wong
Nila Tanzil vs Malaysian Tourism Minister: A different perspective, CJCM

I wonder… why is the war against bloggers? When will the war ends? Anyone?

Bloggers are liars…??

Posted by CJCM

A Malaysian Minister had branded bloggers as liars…. he also said of 10,000 unemployed bloggers, 8,000 are women. I am not sure whether he meant these 10,000 bloggers are Malaysian or not but he certainly rocked the boat. As blogger, I feel sad, disappointed and angry. Granted… there is always a bad apple in so many apples, but I think Tengku Adnan is wrong in the way he responded to Nila Tanzil’s report on her dissapointing experience with the Tourism Ministry officials recently. I have written about this in more detail in my other blog.. please let us know your thoughts… as readers and bloggers.

Below is the transalation by J-Talk on the newspaper article from Sin Chew:

Tengku Adnan: Bloggers are Liars
80% are Unemployed Women
updated:2007-03-08 20:11:32: MYT

(Kuala Lumpur) The Tourism Minsiter Tunku Adnan lashed out today (Mar 8, 2007) that all bloggers on the Internet are liars, out of which 80% are unemployed women.

“All bloggers are liars, they cheat people using all kinds of methods. From my understanding, out of 10,000 unemployed bloggers, 8,000 are women.”

Tengku was addressing the media at the 2007 Malaysia GP Sales when he was asked about allegations made on a blog by a female TV presenter. The guests present were shocked at first, but burst into laughter.

He said he may lose some female voters but did not retract his statement or indicate that he was just joking.

He said that bloggers spread rumours, disrupt social harmony and many bloggers are slanderous and are cheating people with their blogs.

“All bloggers are not in favour of national unity. Our country has been successful because we are very tolerant with each other, if not, there will be civil war, the Malays will kill the Chinese, the Chinese will take revenge and kill the Malays, and the Indian will kill everyone.”

He urged the rakyat not to simply trust bloggers, and gamble our future away because the achievement we gain in the 50 years of independence is not an easy task.

“We have to show the world our positive attitude, if the world learn to be as tolerant as us, the world will be peaceful, without war or civil war.”

He said that the tourism ministry has been promoting the country for the rakyat’s benefit, not just to benefit his own ministry.

He stressed that the Malaysian tourism industry is now in a critical moment as the competition from the neighbouring countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines will be stiffer and Malaysia must respond proactively.

TheGoodBlogs.. a new blog community

Posted by CJCM

I just discovered a new blog community, TheGoodBlogs, that works in similar way MyBlogLog does although it is slightly different. The idea is still the same, that is to promote your blog contents through communities. Once you join as a member of TheGoodBlogs, you then create a widget which you can display on your blog very much the same way MyBlogLog displays the recent readers of your blog. The difference here is that TheGoodBlogs widget doesn’t show the recent readers but it shows the lates post from blog feeds within the blog category you joined or the blog title, which ever you set during widget creation. You can also choose to include and promote any community in the widget. You can create your own communities or you can also join communities already created by others. I have started a new community for Malaysian bloggers. All in all, TheGoodBlogs is what I call bloggers promoting each other in the blogosphere world, generating traffic, and discovering news things in the blogging world. You should give it a try. If you are Malaysian, please don’t forget to promote Malaysian Bloggers community on your widget. TheGoodBligs is still in Beta and it’s free.

Keywords melayu boleh: The SEO competition heats up

Posted by CJCM

Wang Cyber.com, had taken the initiative to hold an SEO contest with the idea to eliminate the adult-oriented, 18sx-oriented, sex-oriented image of the keywords melayu boleh, two malay words that have been long associated with pornography. And the response among Malaysian bloggers is just overwhelming, to say the least. Almost one month after the launch of the SEO competition, the impact can already be seen on search engine results. Try it out for yourself and search melayu boleh in Google, Yahoo, or whatever your search engine you typically use… Except for one site hosted in Indonesia, which I think is using a paid search engine advertising on the keywords melayu boleh to ensure it is listed in the 1st position, you wouldn’t see many links to adult-related or pornography sites for the keywords melayu boleh in the first few pages of the search results…. thanks to the SEO competition organized by Wang Cyber.com, a cyber war worth organizing to restore the credibility Malaysia as a nation and Malay language as an official language of Malaysia.
